Frequently Asked Questions

Do you provide in-person therapy?

Most of our sessions are conducted online for increased accessibility. However, we now have limited openings available at our Orange County (Tustin) location for those who might be more comfortable with in-person therapy. Please specify in our contact form to receive more information about our in-person openings!

Fees & Insurance

Our session fee is $210/hour with licensed psychologists, and $165/hour with master-level associates.

In-network Benefits

We are in-network providers with Aetna insurance. Please check with member services regarding your plan’s policy on financial responsibilities, including co-insurance and deductibles, before beginning therapy sessions with us.

Out-of-network Benefits

For other insurance companies, you might be able to be reimbursed for part of your cost if you plan includes out-of-network benefits for mental health (usually covered by PPO plans). We can provide a “superbill” for you to apply for reimbursement by your PPO insurance. Please contact your insurance company to verify your out-of-network coverage prior to beginning therapy.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

We offer a limited number of sliding-scale cases, which means that we might be able to adjust our fee according to your level of income. Please contact us even if you cannot afford our full fee. In the case that we are unable to adjust our fee for you, we will refer you to other mental health professionals in the area.

What are your COVID-19 Policies?

Currently, all sessions are conducted online via our secured HIPAA-compliant platform until further notice.

I have never been to therapy or counseling. How do I start the process?

Welcome to the journey! In order to start therapy, your first step is to find a therapist you feel comfortable with who has received training in the area you want therapy/counseling in. In addition to looking at their website and/or online profile, it is best to call and get a sense of what it would be like to talk to them.

What happens during the phone consultation?

The goal of the phone consultation is for you to get to know the specialties and methods of therapist you are interested in working with, and for you to get a sense of what it feels like to talk to them. In addition, here at Align Psychology we feel responsible to provide our professional opinion regarding whether therapy is a good fit for your situation. If we feel that we are not the right therapist for you after we get to know your situation, we will let you know that directly and refer you to other mental health or medical professionals who would be a better fit for you.

What does therapy look like?

We work with individuals in weekly 50-minute sessions. The duration of therapy depends on your goals in therapy and diagnoses. That being said, most of our clients work with us anywhere from 6-9 months to up to two years.

What is your cancellation policy?

Once we have established a regular schedule for you, please cancel your appointments 48-hours before your session in order to avoid cancellation fees.
